Nectar Premier vs DreamCloud Premier: Two Value Mattresses Put to the Test

If you're looking for a quality mattress without paying premium prices, the Nectar Premier and DreamCloud Premier are two of the strongest options in the $1,000–$1,400 range. Both come with 365-night trial periods and lifetime warranties — policies typically reserved for mattresses that cost twice as much. But they're built differently and sleep differently. Here's who each one is actually for.

Construction

The Nectar Premier is a full memory foam mattress. Its upper layers use gel-infused memory foam to address the heat retention that traditional foam is known for — though it's still a dense foam construction with less airflow than any hybrid. The slow-response foam provides the characteristic 'hug' that memory foam is known for: close contouring, pressure relief, and good motion isolation.

The DreamCloud Premier adds a pocketed-coil support base underneath the foam layers, which changes the feel significantly. You get more bounce, more responsiveness, and meaningfully better airflow. The surface is firmer at 6/10 versus Nectar's 5/10 — a difference that matters considerably for back vs. side sleepers.

Which Sleep Positions Each Suits

Nectar Premier is better for side sleepers. The medium firmness and slow-response foam provide excellent hip and shoulder pressure relief — the contouring distributes weight across the shoulder and hip joint rather than concentrating it. Side sleepers with back or joint pain will find this profile particularly appropriate.

DreamCloud Premier works better for back sleepers and combination sleepers. The medium-firm feel provides more active lumbar support, and the coil base gives back sleepers the responsiveness they need to move comfortably through the night. Combination sleepers — who switch between positions — often prefer the bouncier, easier-to-reposition feel of a hybrid.

Temperature

This is the most practical difference between the two. The DreamCloud Premier runs meaningfully cooler because the coil layer allows continuous air circulation throughout the support zone. Hot sleepers will feel this difference noticeably.

The Nectar Premier's gel infusion helps with surface heat compared to non-infused foam, but it's still a denser construction. If you regularly wake up hot or kick off covers at night, the DreamCloud's hybrid construction is worth the $249 price difference.

Motion Isolation

Nectar wins here for couples. All-foam construction absorbs motion better than coils — when one partner shifts position, the other feels very little of it. The DreamCloud's pocketed coils reduce motion transfer compared to traditional innerspring, but it doesn't match the Nectar's isolation.

If motion isolation is a primary concern — you're a light sleeper or have different sleep schedules — the Nectar is the better choice despite the lower price.

The Value Argument

Both represent genuinely strong value for their price points. The 365-night trial on both mattresses is exceptional — most mattresses at this price come with 100-night trials. The lifetime warranties are similarly unusual: industry standard is 10 years. These policies from both brands reflect confidence in the product's durability.

The $249 price difference between them is meaningful but not large. Think of it as the cost of upgrading from memory foam to hybrid — the question is whether you need the temperature and responsiveness benefits that upgrade provides.

Verdict

  • Choose Nectar Premier if: you sleep on your side, have hip or shoulder pain, sleep with a partner who moves, or want to maximize value
  • Choose DreamCloud Premier if: you sleep on your back, sleep hot, prefer a bouncier feel, or are coming from a traditional innerspring and want that familiar responsiveness
